ABOUT
Born in 1959 to a family of farmers and ranchers, Kelly grew up in Idalou, Texas, an agrarian community of cotton farmers. She was the third generation born to this lifestyle.
After graduating from Texas Tech University in 1982, with a degree in Fine Arts, Kelly and her young family settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Cozart initially set up her studio in Cañoncito but soon went to work in the contemporary art scene in Santa Fe. She moved from Santa Fe after 20 years and now lives in Corrales, New Mexico.
Kelly studied oil painting with Cheri Christensen, a protégé of Ron Lucas, who teaches in the tradition of the Russian Impressionists.
