LIGHT & SHADOW
Kelly Cozart’s timeless Contemporary Abstract Frescoes, Oils, Prints and Sculptures bring the observer to new heights of artistic awareness through her studies of single subjects, inanimate objects, human and animal forms through metaphors and symbolism. She considers herself an explorer and works in a variety of mediums. Through her art she gives the viewer a renewed awareness to the beauty of everyday life.
Her job as an artist is to reflect to the community in a way that reveals the subconscious. By making an object the subject in the playful role of pigment, light and shadow, Cozart brings sacredness to the mundane challenging us through the use of metaphors.
Her role as an artist mirrors the solitary experience of human reflection. Kelly feels that examples of the divine are expressed in every day moments as stored in our selective memory, and she draws on these images in her work.
Her art studio in Corrales, New Mexico in the center of the southwest, sparks her creativity.
Some of Cozart’s work is inspired by ancient utilitarian objects or archetypal imagery. These elements are evident in her bronzes. Cozart feels that there is a timelessness in the various mediums that she implements.
Cozart’s objects are infused with an uncanny vitality which brings us back to the essentials as we return to nature or a natural state.
